Permalink to Adam DierkensWhat drew you to design systems?
I fell backwards into design systems while looking for ways to unify and simplify parts of our product. I wanted to build components and utilities that could work across more than one feature or product area, and help teams move quickly and build what they need with more confidence.
Who have you learned from or been inspired by?
Early in my career, I learned a lot from my partners in design, accessibility, and user research. They kept me grounded in solving the right problems for the people using what we build, considering whose perspectives we might be missing, and understanding how our work affects their day-to-day experience. That perspective has stayed with me: building at scale matters, but only when it makes people's work easier and better.
